VA Program Manager
Job Summary
The Veterans Program Manager plays a critical role in supporting Cornerstone’s Veteran care strategy by partnering closely with field leadership, internal teams, and external partners. This role ensures our Veteran focused programs are implemented consistently, supported effectively, and continuously improved through data, training, and collaboration.
You will be a go-to resource for Veteran benefit related questions, program oversight and partnership development. You will be responsible for helping Operating Directors (ODs) and field based teams succeed while improving outcomes for Veterans and their families.
Responsibilities and Duties
Field & Program Support
● Welcome, schedule, and correspond with Operating Directors to coordinate Veteran related trainings and onboarding support
● Serve as a primary point of contact for field team members related to VA questions, guidance, and issue resolution
● Engage with Cornerstone team members, Veterans, and caregivers providing education and support related to VA and other Veteran benefits
Training & Resources
● Support organizational training needs in collaboration with the Director of VA Relations & Growth
● Assist with the development, maintenance, and delivery of VA training materials and resources for:
○ Internal audiences (Operating Directors, Field Coordinators, office staff)
○ External audiences (Veterans and their loved ones)
Systems, Data & Reporting
● Manage Veteran focused referral system user enrollments, updates, and access
● Track, analyze, and report on Veteran focused program metrics and KPIs
● Conduct audits and develop reports to identify trends, best practices, and areas requiring additional support
Partnership Development
● Identify and support Veteran-focused and VA-aligned partnerships at local and state levels
● Assist Operating Directors in identifying partnership opportunities and key points of contact within their markets
Program Development & Quality
● Support the development, implementation, and oversight of pilot programs related to Veteran benefits and care
● Assist in the development and execution of Veteran satisfaction surveys to ensure quality and continuous improvement
● Support oversight and management of team members and program initiatives as assigned
Additional Responsibilities
● Contribute to cross-functional initiatives supporting Cornerstone’s growth and mission based strategy
● Perform other duties as assigned to support the growth and success of Veteran focused programs
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (Minimum of 2 years of experience) in social services or healthcare related field
● Minimum of 2 years of experience working with VA and Veteran benefit programs (aide & attendance, VA eligibility and enrollment, etc.)
● Experienced in healthcare coordination and case management activities
● Experience providing compassionate support and guidance to individuals seeking assistance navigating healthcare systems including Veterans’ benefits, and programs for older adults ● Ability to develop and deliver training, education, and reference materials
● Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships and provide guidance to team members, external partners, and clients
● Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities
● Attention to detail and comfort working with data, reports, and operational metrics
● Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
● Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
