In-Home care is at the heart of what Cornerstone Caregiving does best: Personal, intentional care that comes straight to you! We offer services that help you or your loved one feel safe while receiving the care and companionship you need in the comfort of your home. But, what specifically is In-Home care and how can it help you?

In general, In-Home care involves caregivers providing medical or non-medical aid to you without the need for a hospital or care facility. It focuses on promoting quality of life, with services ranging in medical care and personal assistance/daily living support. At Cornerstone, our variety of In-home care services can help with any chronic health conditions, recovery from hospital stays, or disabilities. It can also support individuals with long-term health issues, as well as with everyday challenges that come with age. The caretakers that we utilize are dedicated to providing you with companionship, helping you or your loved one feel comfortable and taken care of. The goal of In-Home care is to allow you to remain in familiar surroundings, maintain your independence, and live a dignified lifestyle despite any health challenges.

Types of In-Home Care Services

There are two primary types of In-Home care: Unskilled care and skilled care. Skilled care usually requires a doctor’s order and includes more specialized medical care from healthcare professionals. On the other hand, unskilled care includes services such as bathing, dressing, cooking, and general housekeeping you may need. This is the kind of care that Cornerstone provides and excels at! We work with you or your loved one directly, or alongside hospices, facilities, or existing caregiving services to provide you with a more complete care that tends to needs that skilled care does not. With all the challenges that you or your loved one may be facing, we want to be an ease and a friend, with care focused specifically on your individual needs.

Unskilled Care may include….

  • Mobility Care
  • Wheelchair assistance
  • Companionship
  • Meal Prep and Errand Help
  • Transportation
  • Help with daily reminders for medication
  • Acting as an extension to your family
  • Incontinence and toilet assistance
  • Fall prevention and general safety
  • Housekeeping
  • Alzheimer’s or dementia care

Skilled Care may include….

  • Wound care
  • Administering medications
  • Monitoring vital signs
  • Physical, occupational, and speech therapy
  • + other services

Benefits of Cornerstone and In-Home Care

There really are many benefits to this type of care service. For one thing, it allows you or your loved one to stay in a familiar environment. This ensures that you are comfortable and significantly contributes to your emotional and physical well-being. Maintaining normalcy and a familiar quality of life is the main goal of In-Home care, which can be hard to achieve or maintain at a traditional care facility or hospital.

Additionally, In-Home care can be more cost-effective. By staying at home, you can avoid the costs associated with in-patient care facilities. In-Home care plans can also be adjusted as your needs change over time. It can provide a much more customizable approach, where services are tailored specifically to you.

This is a particular area that Cornerstone can provide a unique and intentional approach. Other In-Home care providers often have a specific minimum time requirement per week. Often, that can mean that you may be paying for 6 hours of service when you only need 1-2 hours. With Cornerstone, we have No Minimum Requirements! Whether you need 24 hours of care or only 30 minutes, we will be able to provide exactly what you need when you need it. We also have the ability to provide you with care as soon as possible, sometimes even within the same day of applying!

Your time and health are our top priority and we want to make sure you’re taken care of without an absurd wait time. We also provide a free in-home assessment to make sure that we know exactly what kind of care you would need! We want to know exactly what you and your family experience on a day-to-day basis so that we can be empathetic to and effectively care for whatever your needs are.

We at Cornerstone also have a huge heart for our veterans! We want to be able to provide our bravest citizens with the care that they deserve and will take extra care to ensure that happens. We love serving with dignity those who have served us so well.

How is In-Home Care Funded?

Funding for In-Home care services can vary based on whatever type of care you require. Unskilled care is often paid out of pocket, Veteran Affairs (VA) programs, or through long-term care insurance. Skilled care might be covered under Medicare or private health insurance, particularly if prescribed by a doctor. Part of our job will be to help you determine which kind of care you need and alleviate any confusion so that you can be confident in the care you will be receiving.

Conclusion

The main goal of In-Home care is to offer a customizable, compassionate, solution for those needing support to continue living at home despite any health challenges. We want to administer care that matters, provides you with companionship, and protects your dignity. In-Home care is a cost effective, personal, and dynamic way to best meet the needs of you or your loved ones, ensuring the care you deserve in the comfort of your home.
