Director of Learning and Development (L&D)
Job Summary
The Director of Learning & Development (L&D) is responsible for building and executing a scalable, end‑to‑end learning strategy that supports growth across Cornerstone Caregiving. This role deeply understands the home care environment and helps connect the dots between strategy, operations, compliance, and frontline execution. The Director of L&D will create the learning blueprint for the organization—designing, deploying, and continuously improving learning experiences that drive performance, engagement, and quality of care.
A core priority of this role is to build, enhance, and continuously improve caregiver training programs. The Director of L&D will create the organizational learning blueprint, ensuring caregiver training is practical, engaging, and directly tied to quality of care, retention, and growth. Subsequently, they will create onboarding and timely learning for office employees at various levels throughout the organization.
This role partners closely with cross‑functional leaders to ensure learning is practical, timely, and aligned to business needs, with a strong emphasis on adult learning principles and effective use of platforms such as CareAcademy.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Learning Strategy
- Create and own the company‑wide learning & development blueprint, outlining onboarding, ongoing training, development, and role‑specific learning pathways.
- Translate business goals, operational priorities, and regulatory requirements into clear, actionable learning programs.
- Ensure learning initiatives directly support caregiver quality, office performance, and company growth.
- Home Care Expertise & Application
- Leverage a strong understanding of the home care industry to design relevant, practical training for caregivers, office staff, and leaders.
- Connect learning content to real‑world scenarios in home care, helping teams understand the why and how behind processes, standards, and expectations.
- Partner with Operations and Compliance to ensure training supports quality of care and readiness across all markets.
- Learning Design & Delivery (Adult Learning Focus)
- Design and deploy learning experiences grounded in adult learning principles, emphasizing comprehension, clarity, relevance, and application.
- Oversee the creation of learning modules, courses, and resources—ensuring content is delivered efficiently and consistently.
- Utilize and optimize CareAcademy and other learning tools to support scalable, trackable learning outcomes.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Operations, Compliance, Field, Partnerships, and other Home Base teams to identify learning needs and co‑create solutions.
- Act as a connector across teams, ensuring learning initiatives are aligned, not siloed.
- Support leaders with tools and resources that reinforce learning on the job.
- Measurement & Continuous Improvement
- Establish metrics to measure learning effectiveness, adoption, and impact.
- Continuously refine learning programs based on feedback, performance data, and evolving business needs.
- Stay current on best practices in L&D, adult learning, and home care training.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven experience leading Learning & Development initiatives, preferably in home care, healthcare, or a regulated service environment.
- Strong understanding of adult learning theory and practical application.
- Experience building and scaling learning programs, including digital and LMS‑based training (CareAcademy experience preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to work cross‑functionally and influence without direct authority.
- Strategic thinker who can also execute—comfortable building the blueprint and rolling up sleeves to get modules launched.
