Understanding Your Options

What qualifications do caregivers have?

Caregivers receive training in personal care, safety and communication. Many agencies perform background checks, reference verification, and ongoing education to ensure quality care.

Can I choose who comes to my home for care?

We do our best to accommodate requests for specific caregivers whenever possible, taking into account compatibility and availability. Generally we take a care team approach ensuring that multiple people know your loved one and are able to provide a cohesive continuity of care at all times.

How do I decide which care option is right for my family?

If your loved one needs medical treatment or therapy, start with home health. If they need daily living assistance or companionship, choose in-home care. One can also combine both for maximum support.

What should I use if my loved one needs hospice?

If your loved one needs hospice, their primary care support should come from a hospice agency, not traditional home health and or standard in-home care. However, families can still benefit from additional in-home caregiver support alongside hospice.

Can I become a family caregiver?

Yes you can! All the requirements to be a caregiver remain the same. You can apply here!

I’m ready. What’s the next step?

We’re honored. The next step is simple: we’ll contact you soon – via call, text, or email – to learn more about your unique situation. During this initial conversation, we’ll discover your care needs and answer any questions you may have. Then, we’ll schedule an in-home meeting where we discuss care options and create a personalized plan together. From there, we’ll match you with a caregiver and can often begin care within a day or two, frequently on the same day!

Can’t wait? We understand. You can take the next step in a few ways:

  • Call us directly using the number provided in the email from us or A Place For Mom
  • Use the search bar on our website to find the nearest location to you
